Your dog receives training throughout the whole day. The major benefit to this is that he/ she will experience everything that they would if they were home. While living in our home he/ she will be put into real world training such as brining in the groceries, doing laundry, vacuuming, yard work, cleaning the house. This allows us the opportunity to develop new habits in that will help them to make better choices when they go back home. They will learn, schedules, feeding times, manners such as waiting at doorways, sitting automatically, basic obedience, household rules and respect, socializing with all sizes of dogs and cats, as well as proper greeting and socializing with humans. The most important of all is that we will teach them how to be a member of the family that you can enjoy and involve in your daily life.
We do limit the amount of dogs that we have at one time to ensure a better focus on your dog. This allows us to give them the time and attention that they deserve.
Our board and train programs are designed for the busy family or person. This is because once your dog comes home all you have to do is maintain the training. There isn’t a series of commands that you must practice everyday. It is for those that want the luxury of having a well mannered dog, but don’t necessarily have the time that is needed to get your dog to become a well mannered family member.
This programs is also ideal for the dogs to require more specialized training due to their fear, aggression, biting etc., as it allows us to focus on helping your dog make better choices and regain their confidence.
Board and train programs are incredible for achieving outstanding dog obedience, behavior modification, and solid results with your dog in a short period of a few weeks. During your dog’s stay we do a lot of the “heavy lifting” by working with your dog multiple times per day, teaching basic obedience, off-leash e-collar training, socialization with other dogs/people/animals, and in some cases behavior modification. Your dog is challenged daily around distractions (like other dogs, public places, and new people) which is a huge part of the “real world success” of this program. This is what I do for a living, and your dog’s behavior, obedience, and improvement is top priority everyday! When your dog goes home, they will have their obedience training foundation and a new, calmer, tuned in, obedient, and more polite state of mind–as an owner, you just have to apply the training and follow through (they already know their stuff, you just keep up with it! I supply you with thorough after training protocols and am always available to you with any questions). Severe behavior modification cases are strictly board and train; if you have questions about this, please feel free to contact me!
If your dog is leash reactive, dog or human aggressive, struggles with more than a couple of small behavior issues or you want them off-leash e-collar trained, then you and your dog will achieve the most success through Board & Train. It has often taken many months or years to develop the bad dog behaviors that have you seeking training help, there will not be a quick or easy fix for unpacking deeply rooted issues and patterns. Board and Train allows me to do the heavy lifting for you, to take your dog out of their routine, familiar and habitual processes and hit the “reset” button. You wouldn’t rush rehab after surgery, so it’s the same with dog training: time and consistency, along with the right tools and guidance, are the keys to achieving big time change in a shorter period of time.
